Grandparents Day 2019

Last Wednesday during Catholic Schools Week we celebrated Grandparents Day. All Gradparents were invited to visit the school and see their grandchildren in their classroom environment. Children enjoyed showing their grandparents their classroom and some of the work they had done during the year. The grandparents shared some stories about jobs they had and what school was like in their day. It was a very enjoyable morning.

Shared Reading

Over the last few Fridays we’ve had parents visit the school to share a book/story with a group of children. The above photographs were taken in the 3rd & 4th classroom. As you can see the children really enjoy being read to. Our last shared reading session takes place next Friday. If you would like to get involved please return the slip which was attached to the January Newsletter.

Young Scientist Exhibition

The children from 5th & 6th class traveled to the RDS to attend the Young Scientist Exhibition. The children got to view the Primary Science Section as well as the main exhibition. It was a great opportunity for the children to see exhibits in both science and technology.

Halloween Art Workshop

Junior and Senior Infants and First and Second class had a Halloween Art workshop with Eco-Unesco. The children used recyclable materials which they brought in from their green bins at home and used other recyclable materials supplied by Eco-Unesco. In the workshop the children designed Halloween items using recyclable materials. They came up with some very creative designs which included pumpkins, witches, monsters, masks and lots more.
