Today children from 3rd and 4th class traveled into the city to participate in the fighting words workshop. The children got the chance to write the beginning of a book as a collective class while an illustrator put their ideas into pictures. The children then finished the book by themselves. At the end of the workshop they each got a printed version of the book. It was a very educational and fun trip which was enjoyed by all.
The children from 3rd & 4th class and the Green Schools Committee traveled to Ballymount recycling centre yesterday to take a tour of the facility. It was a very informative (and smelly) tour but the children really enjoyed it and learned a lot from their visit.
Children from 3rd – 5th class completed in the South Dublin Cross Country finals in Corkagh Park last Thursday. They completed with over 2000 children from 59 schools around South Dublin. It was a great day out and all the children ran really well in their races.
Children from all classes participated in the ‘Spooky Walk’ organised by the Parents Association. The children also enjoyed traditional Halloween games in their classrooms.
Welcome back to all our students especially all the new Junior Infants students. We hope you had a good summer. A big welcome also for our new staff, Ms. Cole and Mr. Finlay. We’re all looking forward to a busy and exciting academic year
The school will be holding an Action Day on Wednesday 4th March to promote the awareness of Biodiversity in the school and in the wider community. We are inviting all children to walk to school on this morning dressed up as local flora and fauna. The children will carry placards displaying messages about biodiversity and they will chant the Green Schools Biodiversity Code. On arriving at school the children will be treated to a ‘big breakfast’ which will be kindly hosted by the parents association. The children will then set up stations around the school where they will explain how we have been promoting biodiversity in our school. Parents are invited to attend these stations and learn all about the hard work we have been doing in the school. Looking forward to seeing you all there .
For the month of February we are taking part in the ‘Big Travel Challenge’. We are asking as many children as possible to ‘Park & Stride’ for 15 days. We will be tracking our progress during the month and sending it to the Green Schools Co-ordinator. There are prizes to be won and it is a great way to restart our Walk to School Programme. Let’s hope the weather improves and we can all get out walking.
Our Halloween Walk will take place tomorrow Friday 24th at 11am. We would appreciate it if any adults who are available could come along to help out with this walk. Children can come into school dressed up in their Halloween costumes and bring a treat for lunch time. Children will finish school at the normal times. Enjoy the midterm break and see you all on the 3rd November. Happy Halloween
The mobile library will visit the school again on Monday 3rd November. Please return all outstanding mobile library books to the school before this date.
Congratulations to the 16 children who started Junior Infants this month.
